In a newly published article of mine entitled Echinacea Letting You Down? Use as Directed I discuss some points on Echinacea and its correct uses. I would just like to take a second and give out some more information about this wonderful herb, as it is quite popular and many people use it (please read the article on how NOT to use it).

There are a few different types of Echinacea, but their properties and almost identical. I recommend Echinacea Pupurea as it is a little less expensive and less endangered. Also, the leaves and roots and sold as the herb, but I would recommend the use of the roots only for best results of your usage! Echinacea is considered a ‘Mild Herb’ and really has no toxic properties. This means you can pretty much take it in mass quantities and have almost no side effects. If in fact you do choose to go crazy with it, you should add ginger and licorice to the combination to harmonize it. Remember Echinacea is an herb directed and inflammation and acute problems. This is why concentrated doses over a short period is best. During acute stages you can take a full dose of formula every 2 hours the first 3 days. This will probably have improved the condition greatly and you may then move to spaced out dosages for the next 3 days or so.

This doesn’t mean that Echinacea has no use in the Chronic formulas. Echinacea is widely used in Cancer treatments. This is because Echinacea does not lose effectiveness of certain of its properties, in this case a cleaner. A potent blood cleanser is perfect for many conditions and cancer is not an exception. A blood cleanser will purify the blood, clean out the lymph, clear inflammation, and clear up skin sores all of which are important to a cancer patient. Echinacea with a host of other excellent blood cleaners can be used for months straight in order to help clear up conditions.

Another great use for Echinacea that I love is using it for a pet ear wash. I make an extremely potent tincture with Echinacea and some other herbs, boil off the alcohol and wash my dog’s ears with it and it works wonders. Echinacea is great here as all of its properties work perfect for the condition. Anti-inflammatory to reduce the inflammation casued by irritated ears, anti-biotic to kill bacteria, anti-septic for a cleansing action, and fights infection. I actually make a Doggie Ear wash that I sell to local pet stores, and everyone loves it!

Leave your favorite Echinacea uses in the comments!

As promised, my follow up to the hemorrhoids I had, and the review on the products I used for hemorrhoids from Dimmak Herbs Supplements . The post can be found here:
http://www.blogofherbs.com/herbs/hemorrhoids-my-2-day-quick-fix

I am pleased to report I am pain free from my bottom and feel much better. What I ended up doing was alternating the bolus dosage as 2-1-2-1-2-1-1, this kept a strong strength of herbs flowing, but alternating the higher dosage and extra discomfort throughout the time period. Honestly the biggest savior was VAINE balm by Dimmak Herbs. The ointment was huge in protecting the tissue, relieving the pain, and reducing inflammation. VAINE contains herbs that are targeted at veins and rebuilding them back to life: spider veins, varicose veins, and in my case hemorrhoids. VAINE Skin Healing Balm also contains olive oil, bees wax, vitamin E oil, and Eucalyptus oil all of which have healing properties for skin and tissue!

Now, I did make a big mistake the night of my first blog about the hemorrhoids in that I wasn’t making sure my stool was going to be soft. I really re inflamed the area and had a bad night, that could have been prevented. It is key to drink lots of water and keep a soft stool and I have 2 more products to tell you about for these. REGULATOR by Dimmak Herbs would be a good product to have to take throughout the issue, take a small dose like 1 pill daily. In my case with bleeding internal Hemorrhoids Rhubarb is a great herb for this! Rhubarb, to me Da Huang, is the main ingredient in DEUCE by Dimmak Herbs. This special pill contains Rhubarb/Da Huang and a few other herbs then is dipped in bees wax. This allows the pill to pass through the stomach and be broken down in the small intestine for excellent results! With the healing power of bees wax and rhubarb, it would have helped the bleeding and softened the stool!

A few other things to remember in general about hemorrhoids. Keep them clean! have some witch hazel extract laying around. You will be able to do a ‘final wipe’ with the witch hazel which will clean the area and help the reduce the inflammation. Protect the tissue! If it can’t be irritated it goes away. Basically if you never had to poo you would have to deal with em much :) Cover the tissue with VAINE, hemorrhoid creme, or at least some Vaseline. Don’t push hard! Think of your hemorrhoid as a balloon and your pushing as your lungs. If you get on the toilet and your face turns red, you are blowing up that balloon! This is where Fiber, Water, Suppositories, REGULATOR, DEUCE, or even an laxative (only if its really necessary)! Also visit the Hemorrhoid Remedy Page

Some time ago, before herbalism entered my life :) I acquired a nasty case of hemorrhoids that flared up during a 6 hour drive to Phoenix. I went to the local Walgreens or similar and picked me up some ointment and wipes. The ointment is basically a mixture of oils and jellys. This is to cover the inflamed tissue so that you feel better, and if the tissue isn’t being irritated, then they can shrink down in time. The wipes were full of Witch Hazel extract. Witch Hazel is an astringent that can help in shrinking hemorrhoids. Astringents work like you putting some lemon in your mouth. You will suck in your face and make a that puckering look. Same thing your trying to do with Hemorrhoids is suck them back in.
Lets shorten this story now. Basically that stuff i bought just helped me not shoot myself. When i got home i got on the internet and looked up some alternative information. I made a doctor appointment which was only a few days out. Until that time I took baths with a huge amount of Epsom Salt in them. This was a really good one, and i enjoyed that a bunch. When I got to the doctor, he didn’t really want anything to do with my situation and wrote me a prescription for some suppositories. After my 5 days of suppositories the hemorrhoids went away and i was better.
Years later and a few days ago I started getting a small sharp pain during the #2 process and there was blood in my stool. Well, blood in the stool can be from a various amount of things including internal hemorrhoids. Because of the sharp pain i was sure of the internal hemorrhoids, but could have something else so i took some Dimmak Clot Pills for bleeding. When some hemorrhoid pains came on I decided to take a real approach to the issue.
I went to the herb shelf and pulled out the herbs for the Dimmak Herbs Hemorrhoid Bolus. A Bolus is basically an herbal suppository, and i know that the last thing anyone wants to do is stick something up there butt. However, if or when you get hemorrhoids and feel that uncomfortable pain, I’m sure you will do what works. The bolus is a formula of ground herbs and bound in cocoa butter. Cocoa butter is a healing substance in itself, but also is solid at room temp, but will melt at over 98 degrees (your body temp).
The Dimmak Hemorrhoid Bolus contains herbs like: Witch Hazel, Bayberry, Goldenseal, Horse Chestnut, Comfrey, and Slippery Elm.
Witch Hazel is an astringent and we already discussed it earlier
Bayberry is also an astringent in its own case, but brings blood through the area to heal areas. Bayberry has an affinity for healing tissue and veins, you can probably see the connect here.
Goldenseal clears heat (anti-inflammatory) and also an astringent. Both of these are beneficial. In addition to these herbs, Goldenseal is an overall tonifyer of anything it touches, and happens to be able to contract blood vessels
Horse Chestnut is an anti-inflammatory and stops bleeding, im sure you see the connection there
Comfrey has cooling, soothing, cell regenerating, and nourishing properties
Slippery Elm is a binder that provides lubrication, cooling properties, and helps bind the bolus
All of this combined makes for a fine bolus. Each order comes with about 10 bolus’ and they are about .5-.75 thick and under an inch long. The dosage is 1-2 nightly as needed.
On to my specific story, night one was a full dose 2 bolus’. Simply take them and run them under hot water quickly and insert. Although a little uncomfortable at first (not because of the insertion, but because of foreign object in your colon) until it breaks down. I went to bed and instantly felt better the next day. I backed down to a single bolus application for the next 2 days. Now basically back to a small annoyance, which is great. I will continue a single bolus for another 3 days.
When you have hemorrhoids going to the bathroom is scary part of the day, feeling better fast is a great thing.
to be updated in 2-3 days….

Some more tips for hemorrhoids:
You MUST make sure you are regular with moist stools. Dimmakherbs has has REGULATOR and Deuce if you need assistance here.
If you have external hemorrhoids try to push them in after you go to the bathroom
Protect them! Dimmak Herbs VAINE is a better solution to ointments youll find down the street, that contains herbs to shrink and get rid of the hemorrhoid as well as protect them.
Avoid spicy and greasy foods during this terrible time in your life.

My topic today is inspired by my wife returning home from the OBGYN today, and has been almost been bedridden with cramping pains. This scenario could be the same for normal monthly crampings as well. The first I would like to do is point out that Dimmak Herbs has 2 female formulas: PSYCLE & PSYCLEII. Dimmak Herbs Cramps Herbal Remedies will show you about our 2 formulas. 1 is for Hormones and the other specifically for cramping as part of the Pre Menstral Syndrome (PMS). The major herbs we are talking about here are Western’s Cramp Bark and Chinese Dang Gui, now you know why we use both Western and Chinese Herbs. Dang Gui is actually the only name for the herb even tho its Chinese, although it is part of the Angelica Family, do not mistake it for Angelica (there are 3 other types of Angelica, Western Angelica, Bai Zhi, and Du Huo). Dang Gui is a ‘Blood Tonifier‘ and Is know as:

The Supreme Women’s Herb

Thanks to its ability to tonify blood and regulate the menses. Dang Gui is able to build blood, stop pain, and stimulate circulation. This makes the herb very valuable and can be found in many of our liniments for its blood properties.
Cramp Bark is a western herb that is very similar to Black Haw although weaker. Cramp Bark is very easy to remember what it does and is very safe to take. Dimmak Herbs combines Cramp Bark with Dang Gui, but Western Herbalist usually combine Cramp Bark with False Unicorn. False Unicorn is very endangered and should be used wisely. When these herbs are used synergenically you come up with formulas that relieve cramps, regulate the menses, and even avoid miscarriages!
Dosages are quite similar for each, and a tea of 3 grams of each per cup of water decocted would be okay taken 3 times daily. A Tincture or a pill form like the way we sell is better suited for this problem tho. Other suggestions for cramps would be to look for some antispasmodics around the house to use until you can get some suitable herbs. Some antispasmodic herbs would include: Black Cohosh, Lobelia, and Skullcap!
Try these tips out and let me know how it goes.
